Hate Goes Viral On Social Networking Sites
Who woulda thunk Spacebook, MySpace, YouTube etc., would be used to recruit and train jihadist, spew anti-semetic as well as neo-Nazi garbage.
This report by Simon Wiesenthal Center states what we at Jawa have known for a looooong time.
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Militants and hate groups increasingly use social networking sites such as Facebook, MySpace and YouTube as propaganda tools to recruit new members, according to a report by the Simon Wiesenthal Center. The usual "there are so many sites it is hard to control" excuse by site administrators. I have lost track of how many times I have notified such sites only to be ignored. Until they get serious about shutting such sites down the number will continue to grow. The report released on Wednesday noted a 25 percent rise in the past year in the number of "problematic" social networking groups on the Internet.
The report was based on "over 10,000 problematic web sites, social networking groups, portals, blogs, chat rooms, videos and hate games on the Internet which promote racial violence, anti-semitism, homophobia, hate music and terrorism."
