Pat's Run 2009

He was a true American hero.

Pat Tillman put his professional football career on hold to wear our country's uniform. Five years ago, while serving in Afghanistan, he lost his life to friendly fire, trying to protect his soldiers during an ambush.

I served in Tikrit, Iraq, from 2004 to 2005, and Tillman's story has always inspired me. To honor his legacy of courage, leadership and sacrifice, I joined Team IAVA at the 5th Annual "Pat's Run" on April 18th in Tempe, Arizona. As a fellow veteran, Arizona State alum, and huge football fan, Pat's Run is something I look forward to all year.
