Muslim Separatists Threaten to Behead Hostages

Abu Sayyaf, the Filipino arm of the global Islamist insurgency, has threatened to behead a female Red Cross worker if their demands aren't met. News reports do not indicate if the victim will be Andreas Notter (Switzerland), Mary Jean Lacaba (Philippines) or Eugenio Vagni (Italy). AP:

Al-Qaida-linked militants have threatened to behead one of three Red Cross hostages in one week unless Philippine troops pull back from the guerrillas' southern jungle stronghold, officials said Wednesday.

The latest threat was made by Abu Sayyaf commander Albader Parad on Monday during a phone conversation with a government official.
