Nirther FAIL: Judge Spanks "Obama is Not a Citizen" Conspiracy Theorists ... Hard
Oh, wow, this is entertaining. Hollister v. Soetero:
“This case, if it were allowed to proceed, would deserve mention in one of those books that seek to prove that the law is foolish or that America has too many lawyers with not enough to do. Even in its relatively short life the case, has excited the blogosphere and the conspiracy theorists. The right thing to do is to bring it to an early end.The judge goes on to chastise the lawyer who filed the case for using the courts for harassment and threatens to force him to pay the defendants fees. Excellent. We need more judges like this! The issue of the President's citizenship was raised, vetted, blogged, texted, twittered, and otherwise massaged by America's vigilant citizenry during Obama's two-year campaign for the presidency, but this plaintiff wants it resolved by a court.
Thanks to CJ.
UPDATE: For commenters:
Therefore, I as Director of Health for the State of Hawai‘i, along with the Registrar of Vital Statistics who has statutory authority to oversee and maintain these type of vital records, have personally seen and verified that the Hawai‘i State Department of Health has Sen. Obama’s original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures. No state official, including Governor Linda Lingle, has ever instructed that this vital record be handled in a manner different from any other vital record in the possession of the State of Hawai‘i,” Fukino said.Hope that settles it. But it won't. You see, to conspiracy theorists no amount of evidence is enough.
I know, my Dad still thinks Cuba, the mob, and the CIA were behind the Kennedy assassination.
What you are doing is starting with the premise that Obama was not born in Hawaii, and is therefore not qualified to be President under the "natural born citizen" clause of Article II. (Also see Amendment XIV which clearly states, "All persons born ... in the United States ... are citizens of the United States." This has ALWAYS been interpreted as "natural born citizen"). Yet, all evidence that doesn't meet your standards is rejected as part of a conspiracy to cover up the truth (TRUTH!).
Most sane people start with the premise that Obama was born exactly where he said he was born. If you have some evidence to the contrary, show it to me. And don't cite some article interviewing some cousin, great aunt, or childhood friend. I seem to remember thousands (literally, thousands) of "articles" claiming that Jews were warned of 9/11. Also, that Sarah Palin was a card carrying member of the Alaskan Independence Party (an article written by the party head, which was WRONG). People write and say things in error, out of ignorance, or just because they get their kicks lying about stuff.
Since you don't have any real evidence that Obama was not born in the place he says he was, please shut up and stop embarrassing yourselves.
