Good News: Al Qaeda Sympathizer and in-law of Top bin Laden Lieutenant Makes Bail in CA
As we've noted before the formal charges against Ahmadullah Sais Niazi are multiple counts of lying to immigration officials, falsely filling out immigration forms, and the misuse of passports. No big deal, right? There must be millions of others in the US guilty of the same.
It's the substance of the lies and false statements that the key here: Niazi failed to disclose that he was related to one of Osama bin Laden's top lieutenants, al Qaeda's security coordinator Dr. Amin al-Haq, and that he had traveled to Pakistan after 9/11 to meet with al-Haq and other Islamist terrorists.
Over the strong objections of the government, a federal judge in Orange County agreed to grant bail Tuesday for the brother-in-law of Osama bin Laden's alleged security coordinator in a case that is stirring debate about the FBI's use of informants....The judge claimed Niazi couldn't help who he was related to, which is true enough. A lot good people have bad relatives. But when your relative is accused of being part of Osama bin Laden's inner circle isn't it incumbent on you to either a) cut off all contact with him; or b) actively help in apprehending him?Niazi is not charged with terrorism, but Assistant U.S. Attorney Deirdre Eliot told Nakazato that searches of his home and computers yielded evidence that he sympathizes with terrorist groups and has ties to men who are globally designated as terrorists.
We're not talking about a cousin who grows pot in his basement, we're talking about information that could assist in the apprehension of the world's leading mass murderer.
We had a few readers who mentioned they lived just down the street from Niazi in Tustin. Isn't it heartwarming to think he's back in his house?
