Indians Send Pink Underwear To "Hindu Taliban"
A group of liberal Indians are plotting to send pink underwear to fundamentalist Hindus on Valentine's Day in retaliation for their attack on women drinking in a bar.
Members of the Sri Ram Sena (the army of Lord Ram) raided a bar in the southern city of Bangalore last month and beat up some of the women drinking inside, accusing them of loose morality.Hmmm, will the underwear look like this? The gang then threatened attacks against anybody who celebrated Valentine's Day, which they called un-Indian, prompting accusations they were a "Hindu Taliban".
Now more than 5,000 people on the website Facebook have agreed on a colourful revenge.
Nisha Susan, a spokesman for The Consortium of Pub-going, Loose and Forward Women, urged Indian women to "walk to the nearest pub and buy a drink" on Valentine's Day.
She said members of her group had settled on the colour pink for their gifts because it was "a frivolous colour".
