Taliban Release Beheading Video of Polish Hostage (UPDATED)
An image posted at Islamist forums of Polish hostage Piotr Stanczak [alt, Peter Stanczyk] shortly before the Taliban murdered him. Video at end of post.
Family and friends of brutally murdered Piotr Stanczak are in my thoughts and prayers.
KOHAT, Pakistan, Feb 8 (Reuters) - Pakistani Taliban militants released a video tape on Sunday of them beheading a Polish geologist whom they said killed him because Pakistan’s government refused to release Taliban prisoners. This is a edited version of Piotr Stanczak being murdered. It doesn't show the beheading. Expect to soon see the "unedited" version. Terrorist sympathizers like to brag.
The Islamist militants said on Saturday they had executed the Polish engineer, Piotr Stanczak, who they kidnapped in September, because the government had refused to free 60 captured militants before Friday’s deadline.
A tape was delivered to the office of a Reuters reporter in the northwestern town of Dera Ismail Khan showing two masked men cutting off Stanczak’s head.
Before he was killed, Stanczak was seen on the tape appealing to the Polish government not to send troops to Afghanistan.
UPDATE by Rusty: Don't expect the unedited version any time soon. The video was not posted at the usual forums. Instead, it appears to have been hand delivered by a Taliban courier directly to a Reuters reporter. [Or, it's being passed around in e-mails rather than in public].
The version of the video and images from it at Islamist forums seem to be the edited version released by Reuters.
I can tell you from viewing many of these beheading snuff films in the past that they are absolutely horrible. Contrary to the claims made by terror apologists, the victims suffer greatly. It is not over quickly.
Why do I tell you this? Because this is the true nature of the Taliban and other "resistance" organizations. Those who murdered Piotr Stanczak are held up as heroes, not criminals, by Islamist fanatics. And some on the Left equivocate between US soldiers accidentally killing civilians with the intentional murder of civilians, such as this Polish hostage.
In the rare case that our soldiers do commit such crimes, we call them what they are: criminals. And we prosecute them.
No sane person could ever support the Taliban and their ilk, nor could they ever equivocate between us and them.
In other Taliban murdering news - Sunday the Taliban murder Simon Paramanathan (Srinivasan) 38, an Indian who worked with an Italian company in Afghanistan’s Herat zone who was abducted October of last year.
UPDATE: Poland vows revenge!
