Eric Holder's Call for a National Gun Registry
Unfortunately, and for reasons known only to them, the National Rifle Association has decided not to fight against Obama's nomination of Eric Holder for Attorney General. I really wish they would. If you're a gun owner and you're not sure what to think of Mr. Holder, I direct you to the following statements set forth in an op-ed by Eric Holder:
"We can no longer allow the purchase of firearms through the Internet or a newspaper ad, at a gun show or a flea market, or in any other type of sale from an unlicensed seller, without any background check or other record of purchase."This is the guy who will be handling background checks and regulating gun sales. This is the guy who will be policing compliance with the tens of thousands of regulations covering firearms. This is the guy who will be entrusted with proper handling of information transmitted for federal background checks, as required by the law."Congress should also pass legislation that would give the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms a record of every firearm sale."
Can Eric Holder be trusted to faithfully execute the law as written, or will he inject his own biased view into the performance of his job?
I fully inderstand that Barack Obama is not going to nominate Wayne LaPierre or Fred Thompson to be his Attorney General, but is it really too much to ask that we not have yet another anti-gun zealot?
