Saudis Thwart al-Qaeda Hajj Plot
Seems kind of a self-defeating move for al-Qaeda to target the Hajj, but here's the article:
MET: Alerted by Saudi and other intelligence agencies that al-Qaida planned to launch a bloody assault on Muslim pilgrims taking part in the annual pilgrimage - the Hajj - the Saudi government last week launched a huge counterterrorism operation, one of the largest in recent memory, according to U.S. intelligence officials.
The article also details the shift in Saudi counter-terror policy over the last few years and the resulting influx of terrorists to Yemen. There's more work to be done, but part of the KSA's problem is the fractured nature of the leadership structure. One hand thwarts attacks while the other finances extremist education.
