One of These Things Is Not Like the Other

An excellent article by John Rosenthal in Policy Review of a recent European Court of Human Rights ruling which found that when German police do things worse than interrogators at Guantanamo it should not be considered torture.

So, when the U.S. uses enhanced interrogation techniques ---> Torture.

When Euroweenies use techniques that even Donald Rumsfeld found were too harsh ---> Not torture.

It's not so much a double standard as it is a simplistic world view: America is bad, hmmmkay.
