British Global Warmiacs Shut Down Airport

(London, England) A group of more than 50 global warming extremists breached the perimeter of Stansted Airport, shutting it down for more than five hours. Members of the anti-airplane group, Plane Stupid, used bolt cutters to cut through the wire fences about 3 AM Monday. They then secured themselves to the metal fences with chains they brought.

The Plane Stupid leader, Lily Kember, 21, said,

"Being arrested is a terrifying prospect, but not nearly as terrifying as the threat of climate change. There are 100 flights leaving here an hour - that is so much CO2.

"Our parents' generation has failed us and its now down to young people to stop climate change by whatever peaceful means we have left."

In addition to shutting down Stansted Airport, it's notable that, to varying degrees, regional and Europe-wide air travel was disrupted and thousands of travelers were affected.

A total of 57 global warmiacs were arrested. Although it's not clear what else needs to be known in the case, Essex Police are reportedly investigating. (more)
