Pakistan Arrests Key Mumbai Plotter
One wonders what Condi told the Pakistanis that they would actually raid one of Jamat ud Dawah's camps to go after some of the Lashkar-e-Taiba leaders suspected of orchestrating the Mumbai massacres? Whatever it is, keep it up Condi. I'll direct you over to Gateway Pundit, but here's the teaser:
One of the suspected planners of last month's attack by gunmen on Mumbai was arrested by Pakistani security forces in a raid on a militant camp, an official with a charity linked to the militant group said on Monday.Interesting enough, there's nothing about this over at JuD's English language website. The Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) official, who requested anonymity because of the sensitivity of the subject, said Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi was taken into custody following Sunday's raid on a camp used by Lashkar-e-Taiba fighters outside Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistani Kashmir.
Also of note is Ed's analysis which adds:
The US has an interest in Lakhvi as well. Intelligence has Lakhvi sending recruits and cash into Iraq in 2004 in an attempt to destabilize the country and attack American forces. The US also believes that Lakhvi helped coordinate support for jihad in Bosnia, Chechnya, and Southeast Asia.Unfortunately, a few arrests aren't going to be nearly enough. On what scale would Pakistan have to act in order to weed out its jihadis? Think massive civil war. Think tens of millions dead. Yes, it's that bad.
