Afghanistan, Better Late Than Never

Stories like these never seem to make the rounds in the news. Dated December 1, 2008. This child is no doubt proud of his father and the story should be told.

Walberta Park School in the Westhill school district received a special gift this Veterans Day, principal Maureen Mulderig said.

First-grader Benjamin Leonardo's father, Col. Michael Leonardo, sent the school a flag flown over the American compound, Camp Phoenix, in Afghanistan on Sept. 11 of this year. Michael Leonardo is serving in Afghanistan.

The school was celebrating Veterans Day. Again, thank you to our finest and bravest for all you do. We will never forget you.
