Two [up to7?] Brits Involved in Mumbai Massacre

Via LGF, two British citizens are said to be among the Islamist terrorists responsible for the massacre of civilians in Mumbai:

Two British-born Pakistanis were among eight gunmen seized by Indian commandos who stormed buildings to free hostages, Vilasrao Deshmukh, the chief minister of Mumbai, reportedly said.

The Foreign Office earlier said it was investigating reports on NDTV, a local television news channel, that the terrorists - who swarmed luxury hotels and other tourist sites in the city - included “British citizens of Pakistani origin”.

I had a post up earlier speculating who was behind the attacks. The top of my list is not the Pakistani ISI. I think far too much is made of the ISI connection to Pakistani based terror.

If the children of Pakistani immigrants to Britain were involved, then all signs point toward a terrorist organization with training camps Pakistan's uncontrolled regions. The attack doesn't seem very al-Qaedaish to me. Not enough explosions. And LeT is saying it wasn't them. That leaves only about a dozen groups which train "mujahideen" in Pakistan, the majority of them being offshoots of the Taliban, subdivided regionally, and of al Qaeda, subdivided by ethnicity.

But as Howie said in a private discussion amongst us:

Splitting hairs about exactly who and what is not very useful. They all share money, training and tactics.

So it may not be al-Qaeda proper. But it's all the same. Like al-Shabaab is not al-Qaeda proper, but they are an "al-Qaeda" type and allied group.

Not sure how to put it but it's the same face, different name.

I guess al-Qaeda's name explains it best. "The base" But the base is just one part of "the movement".

No Howie, I think you said it quite well.

And if British born Pakistanis were involved, you can bet that they were indoctrinated into the Salfi jihadist worldview at home and down at the local mosque. And judging from their ages, it's probably a good bet that they found a virtual community online which shared their jihadi views and encouraged this type of atrocity.

Britain has big problems. Wouldn't want to be in their shoes.

UPDATE: It gets worse. Gateway Pundit notices another article which claims that 7 of the terrorists were British.

Seven? Hmmm. I'd suspect with a number that large that Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jama'aah had something to do with it on the British recruiting side.

UPDATE II: Oh, so Lashkar-e-Toiba wasn't involved?

Sources have told NDTV that data from GPS revealed terrorists sailed from Karachi harbour on November 12 or 13. Their phone was used to call Lashkar commander Yusuf Muzamil in Muzaffarabad.
Now, this is Indian media we're talking about here. We've had several personal experiences with Indian media reporting rumors as fact. So, don't jump to any conclusions. Yet.

UPDATE III: Hmmmm, Allah emphasizes something I didn't: that the British terrorists may have been from, "the same area as the London bombers." That would be the greater Leeds area. The Indians are playing this angle down.
