Tuesday Morning Hotel Link Dump: God Bless America Edition.
I have a few minutes before I'm off to meetings, so here's some stuff to read.
Before I dump the links, quick story. Last night my taxi driver from the airport to the hotel happened to bes from Afghanistan. He's been here since 1984. He had fled Afghanistan when the Communists took over and eventually found his way to America.
Knowing how much Afghan culture values children and family, I asked him about his and if he had any grandchildren. No grandchildren, but all three of his kids had gone to college and were successful in their own right.
His daughter graduated from Harvard, eventually earned a Ph.D., and is about to go to Cambridge for a post-doc.
Think of that, his daughter. In Afghanistan she'd be wearing a burka, in the U.S. she's a freaking Harvard educated Ph.D.
What a wonderful country we live in, I told him. He agreed wholeheartedly.
