Iranian Diplomat Kidnapped In Pakistan
Interesting development.
PESHAWAR, Pakistan (Reuters) - Gunmen abducted an Iranian diplomat in Peshawar Thursday, a day after a U.S. aid worker was shot dead in the city on the front line of an Islamist insurgency sweeping northwest Pakistan and parts of Afghanistan.Suspicion for the kidnapping will inevitably fall on the Taliban and affiliated Sunni Muslim militant groups such as al Qaeda, who hate Shi'ite Muslims and predominantly Shi'ite Iran almost as much as they hate the West.
Criminal gangs using religion as a cover are also active in the area
Talk about PC in this article, "militant", "criminal gangs". What is so hard about saying Islamic terrorists...sheesh.
Just noticed a update on this story here
The diplomat, identified as Athar Zada, was heading from his home to office with his guard when his car was ambushed in Hayatabad, a neighbourhood near Khyber tribal region where al-Qaeda and Taliban militants as well as criminal gangs are very active."I confirm that the commercial attache of the Iranian consulate is abducted and his guard has been shot dead," police official Noor Zar said.
Very strange.
