Silver Lining: Prop 8 Set to Pass
Prop 8, the California constitutional amendment which would overturn judicially forced gay marriage, looks like it's going to pass. With 90+ percent of the votes counted it's ahead 52 - 48%.
I still say my native state should include an "Angelina Jolie" exception. This would make it legal for hot bi-curios/lesbians to get married provided they release video of honeymoon bedroom antics. You know, good gay.
Alas, we'll have to take the measure as it is. Such are the compromises we make for political expediency.
But note to hot bi-curious/lesbian couples: just because we don't want to legally sanction your arousing alternative lifestyle doesn't mean we don't embrace your "love". Oh no, by all means, please continue. We're into it.
But for all you dudes and not-so-attractive Ellen Degeneres types --- bad gay --- just remember that tolerance does not mean acceptance. To tolerate is to allow that which you think is wrong. We tolerate your gross & creepy lifestyle.
There is nothing beautiful about two dudes getting it on. And if my disgust over the thought of homo eroticism is just an aesthetic disposition, so too is the erotic love you wish to force us to recognize as legitimate. Love is a feeling, and so is disgust.
We don't want you to go to jail for it, but don't try to force us to give it legal sanction or to celebrate it. That makes us tolerant.
So props to all the hard working men and women who rallied the troops to get Prop 8 passed. Kudos.
UPDATE: Below the fold good gay pic, for Ronin.
And for you commenting that condemning homosexuality on purely aesthetic grounds is "hate" then I'm not sure how to answer you other than to say: kudos. You're using the only argument for your side that might win the day--label the opposition as ignorant or hateful and just hope enough beta heterosexuals will forego they're evolutionarily rooted disgust for homosexual sex for the evolutionarily rooted need for social acceptance. It's a good tactic based on your best argument. But your best argument is still pretty much based on your feelings. I'm sorry if I don't feel compelled to validate your feelings. Go talk to Oprah. She's all about validation.
