An Urgent Message : Rep. Tim Walberg Needs Your Help

If you are a conservative, Tim Walberg (MI-07) is a candidate you should support. He has received high marks on pro-life, gun rights, immigration and fiscal issues. He has opposed the Bush administration on immigration policy and No Child Left Behind.

Given his conservative voting record, it's no surprise that Walberg has been targeted for elimination:

A few days ago the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (ASCME) spent $500,000 on TV ads aimed at defeating Congressman Tim Walberg, who is one of the best economic conservatives in Congress.

That's the largest TV buy made in any congressional race by any labor union this year. It comes on top of another $400,000 spent in recent weeks by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

Rep. Walberg earned one of the highest scores in the Club for Growth's rating of Congress and he opposes AFSCME's agenda. Tim sponsored the leading bill to promote offshore drilling, voted against every tax hike and sponsored the leading bill to make the Bush tax cuts permanent, including repeal of the Death Tax.

Walberg's Democratic opponent, State Senator Mark Schauer, voted for higher income taxes, higher sales taxes, and higher gas taxes.

There is no question that if Schauer makes it to Congress he will be one of the worst tax-hiking and pro-labor liberals in Congress.

Given Walberg's strong support for limited-government and lower taxes, it is no surprise that organized labor is so eager to defeat him next month.

Let's be sure that Tim has the funds he needs to match big labor ad for ad in the closing weeks of the campaign. Candidates can buy air time at lower rates than outside groups like AFSCME, so a dollar donated to Tim's campaign today will go further than money spent by AFSCME.

There are just 21 days until the election, so time is short.
