"AIP-Gate?" Another Sarah Palin Scandal?

The "scandal?" Sarah Palin belonged to and/or encouraged the members of the Alaska Independence Party, a constitutionalist/secessionist third party in Alaska. The AIP platform is here.

As proof of a secret alliance between Governor Pulchritude and the separatist trade federation (or whatever), the lefties provide this video of Sarah Palin addressing the members of the AIP, shown at their recent state convention (h/t: Trollhammer):

To the left-wing mind, this is a scandal--which only goes to show you how out-of-touch the lefties are with wide swaths of the American electorate, especially with voters in the South and across the American West. While the lefties are shocked by all of this talk of "individualism" and "independence," millions of voters in middle America are all over that sort of thing. In general, the left-wing hippies just don't have the slightest f'ing clue how tens of millions of independent Americans think. Rather than working to find out for themselves, they read tomes packed full of bullshit by "scholars" like George Lakoff. Lakoff and his ilk don't have the slightest clue how lefties can reach the center-right of middle America, and their advice to the lefties on the subject is less than worthless.

On the one hand, the lefties' complete deafness of tone is a good thing for Republicans. On the other hand, this is not necessarily a good thing for the cause of conservatism. Ann Coulter is fond of saying, "if the Democrats had any brains, they'd be Republicans." There is certainly truth to that statement, but you might also say, "when the Democrats demonstrate any brains, they run as conservatives." Democrats cling bitterly to a host of issues which are proven electoral losers (gun control being the clearest example), and yet they just don't seem to be able to break their addiction to politcal stupidity. As I said, while Democrat idiocy on these issues is a boon to Republicans, it's not necessarily so good for conservatism.
