Zawahiri Almost Nabbed, Brooklyn Bridge for Sale
Both about equally believable. Kyros emailed this earlier so I thought he'd blog it, but since he didn't it looks like it's up to me. Yeah, sorry, I know it's not Sarah Palin related. Can't win 'em all.
Jihad Watch quotes some news agency or another:
Pakistani security forces missed a chance to catch al Qaeda second in command Ayman al Zawahri, the government's senior Interior Ministry official said on Monday...So, in sum at some point in the historical past and at some place in Pakistan Z man was almost bagged by .... Pakistani forces?Rehman Malik did not say when security forces had missed the chance to catch Zawahri or give any more detail about the incident. He also did not say where bin Laden might be.
Yeah right. Equally plausible? At some point Z man was helped by Pakistani forces.
Newbie thinks we're real close to nabbing Z. Me? I've long since given up hope on Pakistan's ability to do anything productive in the war on terror. If a few U.S. 'advisors' aren't embedded with whatever Pakistan has thrown at al Qaeda, then in my mind there's little they're going to get done.
Hopefully I'm wrong. Time will tell.
