Hey Nancy
Hat Tip: Ed.
Where do I think the Democrats screwed up? Well in at least as many areas as the Republicans did. But its the same basic fundamental mistake. You campaign telling Americans you'll do this and that. Then you fail to deliver.
In 2006 the Democrats ran a lot of mid-western conservative democrats to gain a majority. Promising to unite the country and leave the politics of division behind. They then appointed far left Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi to top leadership posts. The result was a congress that was driven not from the middle, but from the far left partisan wing of the party.
Nancy Pelosi is hardly representative of the views of the vast majority of Americans or Democrats for that matter. This is why she fails. She's trying to push a far left wing cause on all those around her. She does not compromise with anyone for any reason.
She should have taken notes from Newt Gingrich who was able to actually work things out with a divided congress and and Democratic president. Maybe then this congress could have earned a C or C+ rather than the big fat zero they've earned so far.
Yes Nancy was able to make all those new conservative freshmen bow to her will. But in doing so she threw out the baby with the bathwater.
Republicans made similar mistakes that made the Democratic congress' failure possible. They lost control by promising fiscal responsibility, ethical conduct and low taxes. The only one they got right was the lower tax plank.
