Terrorists Favorite Filesharing Service is Archive.org
Internet Haganah has been running a series of posts on al-Qaeda and other terrorists using archive.org as one of the file-sharing services for their propaganda releases. The FBI has asked archive.org for data pertaining to users who upload such material. This would be very useful in locating the point of origination for releases from terrorist groups.
Via Internet Haganah:In late August of 2007, during a time when many prominent jihadi forums were suffering from efforts to drive them offline, I collected 351 pages of active discussions from 7 sites. Figure 1 illustrates the findings, comparing the number of files found that were uploaded to Internet Archive as opposed to YouTube.Note here's Abu Ayub al-Liby's speech that was released by as-Sahab last week, Where is it? Archive.org.
Tribute to terrorist Sayyed Qutb. Where is it? Archive.org.
Want a terrorist release in various formats and sizes. Well try archive.org.
Need the latest from Jaish al-Mujahedin? Try archive.org
As Aaron points out, the problem is not with archive.org preserving these files.
The problem here is not with Internet Archive preserving al-Qa`ida's AGITPROP, but rather with IA's insistence on providing jihadists with free and unfettered access to IA's collection of files...I might also add that archive.org is also protecting the privacy of agents of foreign powers at war with the United States.
