NATO Forces Fire into Pakistan

NATO forces have returned fire over the Pakistani border. Expect the Taliban to begin whining about civilian casualties, which they themselves bring on by using family compounds as firing points.

NATO press release:

KABUL, Afghanistan: ISAF’s Task Force (TF) Currahee in Paktika province received multiple rocket attacks from militants inside Pakistan on 15 July.

The troops identified a qalat [note: walled compound] as the point of origin of the attacks and responded in self defence with a combination of fires from attack helicopters and artillery into Pakistan.

TF Currahee* and Pakistan military coordinated their operation closely from the outset. The Pakistani military agreed to assist and search the area if the border firing continued.

Wikipedia identifies TF Currahee is a US-led task force primarily consisting of the 4th BCT, 101st Airborne Division with an attached battalion, 1-503rd IN (ABN), from the 173rd ABCT.

In related news, the Canadians have killed the Taliban's second in command in Kandahar, Mullah Mahmoud. Mahmoud called himself the 'deputy governor of Kandahar'. Eight other pieces of crap were killed with him. Way to go Canada!
