Bodies of Two Missing US Soldiers Recovered

More than a year after they were ambushed and kidnapped in Iraq, the bodies of Sgt. Alex Jimenez and Pvt. Byron Fouty have been recovered. Via CNN:

The military has not yet issued a public confirmation, but uniformed officers visited the father of Sgt. Alex R. Jimenez, 25, at his Lawrence, Massachusetts home Thursday to tell him about the discovery, according to Jimenez family friends.

The officers told Ramon "Andy" Jimenez that information from an informant led investigators to the remains of Jimenez and Pvt. Byron W. Fouty, 19, of Waterford, Michigan on Wednesday, Jimenez family friend Sandy Almonte said.

The military did not give the family any other details, such as where the bodies were found, Almonte said.

Major Dan Elliott with the U.S. Army's 10th Mountain Division confirmed to CNN that human remains were found in the division's area of operation in Iraq. He said the remains have been sent to the United States for positive identification.

Our deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of Sgt. Jimenez and Pvt. Fouty.
