Massive Immigration Raid at Iowa Packing Plant
(Postville, Iowa) Early yesterday morning, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents led a swarm of more than 100 state and federal officers in establishing a perimeter then launching a massive raid on the Agriprocessors, Inc. meat packing plant in this small community in the far northeastern county of the state.
Along with social security number fraud, there have been allegations of serious worker abuse and that a methamphetamine lab was operating in the plant.
As a result of two years of investigation, immigration officials expected to arrest more than 600 workers on criminal offenses out of a total work force of 1,000.
Illegal alien advocates will likely protest.
