Chinese Blogger Jailed for Reporting False Information
(Shandong Province, China) A Chinese blogger (netizen), called "SS Highland Teacher," has been sentenced to five days administrative detention for cross-posting a story he found on an obscure local forum and not verifying that is was true.
The Chinese blogger merely cut and pasted a report of a train collision which characterized it as a terrorist act while inflating the number of casualties. The authorities cited a law which states that mis-reporting to disrupt public order is criminal. Since SS Highland Teacher didn't verify the accuracy of the report he copied, he was jailed. More ....
