Salt Meet Open Wound: Mistrial in Miami al Qaeda Ring Trial
Jurors, are they all this stupid or is low IQ a qualification reserved only in high-profile terrorism trials? Jurist:
US District Judge Joan A. Lenard Wednesday declared a second mistrial in a terrorism prosecution of six men charged with conspiring to bomb the Sears Tower in Chicago and the FBI headquarters in Miami after the jury was unable to reach a verdict after 13 days of deliberations. The six, along with Narseal Batiste, pledged allegiance to Osama bin Laden for chrissake! On film.
Batiste sought out the help of al Qaeda, the rest of them took the oath, and the jury was split? AP:
The case was built on hundreds of FBI audio and video recordings and the testimony of two paid FBI informants, one of whom posed as an al-Qaida operative sent from overseas to help the group put together its plan. One key video recording showed the informant, known to the group as Brother Mohammed, having the men make an oath of allegiance to al-Qaida.And to think that we normally get jurors from voter registration roles. Typical Barack Obama voters, maybe?
I need a drink. Yeah, I don't drink, but this is enough to drive me to it.
I hope all Florida juries aren't filled with the same kind of morons as this, because in related news more charges have been filed against Youssef Megahed and Ahmed Mohamed. Click on over to Michelle's for all the details, but the indictment against the pair now has 5 more counts than it did yesterday.
I'm guessing the two will be convicted on the minor counts, be released after time already served is counted, then deported to Egypt where they'll be national celebrities. A year from now expect a BBC documentary on how the two were tortured by the evil Bush regime because the orange uniforms they were forced to wear made their asses look fat.
