Obama Decodes "Typical Small-Town People"
Via Michelle:
"You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them...it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."I'm sure the small-town Pennsylvanians will be happy to know that Barack really understands them.
I can't speak for rural Pennsylvanians, but I myself "cling" to my guns because I know that gun-hating bastards like Obama are trying to take them. I neither feel nor express "anti-immigrant" sentiments, though I do believe in the rule of law. Thus, I both feel and express "anti-illegal" sentiments. I'm a big believer in the importance of trade, but I also believe in national sovereignty and national security, both of which, in my opinion, sometimes have to trump the almighty dollar.
I have a job, so my "bitterness" must have some other explanation.
