Al Qaeda Embassy Bomber Charged
Ahmed Khalfan Ghailani, a Guantanamo detainee, has been charged for his invlolvement in the African embassy bombings. BBC:
The US defence department says Mr Ghailani's involvement included:Ghailani has apologized for his part in the bombings and says he had no idea about them beforehand. I'm sure that makes it all better.- buying explosives, detonators and transporting bomb components to Dar es Salaam
- helping buy the lorry used in the attack
- escorting the bomb engineer between Dar es Salaam and Mombassa, Kenya, after the bomb had been made
- scouting the US embassy with the suicide bomb driver
The defence department says that after the bombing, Mr Ghailani "continued in his service to al-Qaeda as a document forger, physical trainer at an al-Qaeda training camp, and as a bodyguard for Osama Bin Laden".
Not sorry enough, though, to actually give up his membership in al Qaeda. After the bombings he fled Africa to Pakistan where he continued to serve Osama bin Laden.
For their part, some on the Left are outraged. Not at Ghailani's crimes, but at the US for trying him in Guantanamo and not in a civilian court.
Full Constitutional rights for terrorists and war criminals now!
