Arabs Helping Fight Taliban in Afghanistan
Cool beans. I guess. I hope. I dunno, something about them 'sharing Islam' as a way of connecting with locals kinda leaves me uneasy. But if the story is correct, they go into villages delivering aid and a message that the U.S. is here to bring peace, that it's the Taliban they should fear; if that's the case then I'm all for it. Maybe the best we can hope for in these countries is for them to be content oppressing their own people a tad bit less and leaving the rest of us alone?
BBC:
Troops from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have been delivering humanitarian aid to their fellow Muslims and, on occasion, fighting their way out of Taleban ambushes. Though Jordanian forces have been carrying out some base security duties, the UAE's troops are the only Arab soldiers undertaking full-scale operations in the country. Thanks to SH.Until now, their deployment has been kept so secret that not even their own countrymen knew they were here. ...
Still, it is going to come as a surprise to most people that for the last five years, an Arab Muslim army has been operating here in Afghanistan, alongside the Americans as part of the coalition....
"And we try to convince the people about the US, about British. They came here to give you peace."
