Canadian Security Intelligence Service Report Released

Via Dust My Broom:

With the advent of CSIS releasing new information on terrorist suspects living in Canada under security certificates I am pretty displeased with how the media is covering it - basically they are not.
Darcy is posts on two individuals. The first is Mahmoud Jaballah
Egyptian-born Mahmoud Jaballah came to Canada in 1996 on a false Saudi passport and claimed refugee status. Along with is wife Husnah Al-Mashtoul they founded and ran the Um Al-Qura Islamic school located in Scarborough, Ontario which still remains open and is apparently approved by the Ontario Ministry of Education as a private school.

He was detained in February 2001 under charges from the federal government that he was a member of the Egyptian Islamic Jihad under Ayman al Zawahiri and was alleged to have been the communications person for the 1998 bombings of U.S. Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania that killed 213 people. In two days Mahmoud Jaballah made 20 calls to the United Kingdom, Yemen, Azerbaijan, and Pakistan and Mahmoud continues to evade explanation.

He was released seven months later but was arrested again under a new security certificate because it was found that his fingerprints matched those of Egyptian Islamic Jihad leader Mahmoud Said that were released by Interpol

The second idividual is Mohamed Harkat
Mohamed Harkat arrived in Canada in 1995 carrying a fake Saudi passport and claimed refugee status. Mohamed Harkat was arrested in December 2002 on a security certificate that cited alleged ties with terrorists. He was held for three and a half years and was released on bail in June 2006. CSIS had been watching him for five years prior to his arrest as part of a bigger investigation. He was identified as a sleeper for the al-Qaeda network. Mohamed Harkat worked at a number of minimal wage jobs in the Ottawa area but received large money transfers. The government has ruled that he is a threat to national security and should be deported.

Like Mahmoud Jaballah, Harkat had a relationship with the father of Canada's terrorist family Ahmed Said Khadr and was also associated with Fahad al-Shehri who was deported from Canada for links to terrorism. Harkat also received visits from a Libyan called Wael (now we know his name - Mohamed Aissa Triki) who gave Harkat $18,000 and Harkat said he did it because he liked him.

Wow, scary huh? We know there are a lot of al-Qaeda supporters in Canada. But what gets me is, if the ties to the 1998 embassy bombings are that clear, these men should be sent to the US for trial, not deported back to Egypt.

Especially scary is the fact that the leader of Egyptian Islamic Jihad, founded by al-Qaeda #2 Ayman al-Zawahiri used Canada's refugee laws to find safe haven there. Canada needs to wake up to the fact terrorists are gaming their system to gain access to the west.
