"Animal Liberationists" Firebomb UCLA Professor's House

Chronicle

"Edythe D. London professor of psychiatry and of molecular and medical pharmacology house was damaged by a firebomb left at the front door early Tuesday"
"A statement issued by North American Animal Liberation Press Office said "animal liberationists" were responsible for placing the incendiary device. The press office relays messages from the underground Animal Liberation Front, but is not officially related to the group."
The incident was the second attack in four months against Professor London. She uses primates in her research on nicotine addiction and apparently this has angerd the "liberationists."
These "liberation" groups are more in the line of "terrorists" and believe that name should be used for them. They attempt to strike fear in those they oppose by incidents such as this.

UCLA Chancellor Gene Block stated:

"These kinds of deplorable tactics have no place in a civilized society. We will not stop beneficial research activities because of the illegal, violent acts of a handful of extremists."
Chancellor Block also stated, "UCLA is working closely with the FBI and other law enforcement agencies to bring to justice those responsible for this and other acts of violence against our researchers."

I certainly hope they find a "opening" to the liberationists/terrorists undergound!
