(UPDATE: PWND) Canadian, American Firms Doing Business With Taliban

UPDATE 2/03/2008: The Taliban website has been taken down. Thanks to every one for filing complaints and thanks to the webhost and DNS provider for promptly taking down the site and ceasing to provide services to the Taliban.

Special message to Taliban webmaster Adil Watanmal & Taliban spokesmen Qari Muhammad Yussuf & Zabihullah Mujahid.

Even as Canadian soldiers are fighting in Afghanistan the official website of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, the terrorist group more commonly referred to as the Taliban, is being hosted by a Canadian company. Other business services, essential to the Taliban operation, are being provided by American firms.

The website, The Voice of Jihad, carries the official logo of the Taliban and bears the signature and contact information for the two top Taliban spokesmen, Qari Muhammad Yussuf (Ahmadi) & Zabihullah Mujahid. The website was designed and maintained by Taliban webmaster Adil Watanmal.

In addition to Pashtun and Arabic, the webmaster and Taliban propagandists have put up an English language page as well.

What is surprising about the current website is that the Taliban have reclaimed the original URL of their first website, alemarah.org. The last time the Taliban used that particular web address they personally challenged The Jawa Report to try to take them down. It only took 3 days for them to lose all services.

The website was only registered 4 days ago. It's latest entry was today. A recent entry proclaims, "8 Canadian occupation troops killed in Kandahar". Another accuses Canadian troops of "firing on civilians".

Just a few days ago the Taliban left this not-so cryptic message to us:

We ask God Almighty to preserve our computer in Pakistan and to support them to defeat the Allamcharf traitor and his crew and soldiers"
I take that as a challenge, don't you?

It is against Canadian law to do business with the Taliban. This company needs to be reminded of that fact.
