American Aid Worker Kidnapped In Afghanistan
And she was even wearing a burqa.
KANDAHAR, Afghanistan - Gunmen kidnapped a burqa-clad American aid worker and her driver in southern Afghanistan's largest city early Saturday, snatching the woman from a residential neighborhood as she was on her way to work.The American worked in Kandahar for the Asian Rural Life Development Foundation, said Jeff Palmer, its international director. Palmer said the group had not been contacted by the kidnappers and that he did not know their identity or demands.
Little is known at this point, not even her name, but we'll keep following this story and issuing updates as they become available.
Update: The woman's name, Cyd Mizzel, has been released. She was in Afghanistan to teach English at Kandahar University and embroidery at a girl's school. A real threat to Islam, eh?
