One step forward, two steps back in Afghanistan's Madrassas
Here's a BBC report about plans to "modernize" Afghanistan's madrassas. The hope is that they will become "moderate" and then compete with Pakistan's "radical" madrassas for students.
So, instead of Pakistani trained suicide-bombers with no comprehension of physics and a commitment to stoning homosexuals we'll get Aghani trained suicide-bombers with a basic knowledge of algebra and who take the more moderate position that homosexuals should be jailed, not stoned to death. Brilliant.
