Wow, William Arkin is Still Employed? Sadly, Yes.
Nothing is sadder and less surprising than the Washington Post giving William Arkin a paycheck for 'national security analysis'. His latest goes on to laud Zbigniew Brzezinski's lunacy and then he suggests a 'strategy' for winning against Islamic extremists:
I say it is through ending the war and returning to a far quieter process of intelligence vigilance and law enforcement. So, he suggests, and these are his words, 'returning to......law enforcement' mode in one sentence, which is exactly what we we're doing pre-9/11. Then three sentences down he suggests:
No one should be yearning to "return" to the good old days of a 2001 counter-terror effortWTF? Since he's not really a security analyst, but rather a Leftwing activists, it kind of all makes sense. Especially since the crux of the argument--if one can read any point in this rambling essay at all-- seems to be that calling our counterterrorism efforts 'the war on terror' creates an 'atmosphere of fear'. Which he suggests is completely unjustified in one breath, and yet completely justified in the next.
Can someone tell the Washington Post that I will sell them equally pointless and inconsistent drivel for half the cost and with twice the international security credentials as Arkin?
PS: We last heard from this self-described 'international security expert' calling our troops 'mercinaries' and 'baby killers', not supporting our troops, and complaining that these 'arrogant and intolerant' troops live in circumstances of 'obscene amenities'.
Also, check out the conspiracy filled comments to Arkin's latest rant, the first of which identifies America as "the #1 terrorist nation in the world".
