Video/Images: 18 Iraqis Murdered by al Qaeda

A video showing the murder of eighteen captured Iraqi soldiers and other Ministry of Defense workers was posted by al Qaeda to the internet yesterday. The video is posted below (scroll down).

Actually, they are murdered by The Islamic State of Iraq (ISI)--but calling them "al Qaeda" seems to bother ISI leader Abu Omar al-Baghdadi (who may have been captured over the weekend--fingers crossed). And if I can't personally kill al-Baghdadi or al Qaeda in Iraq leader Abu Musab al-Masri (aka, Abu Hamza al-Muhajir), then annoying them will have to suffice.

As Kafir noted on Saturday, an image from the video had been posted with a warning that the video would be forthcoming. Vicki, from Not Ready for My Burqua notes that the al Qaeda in Iraq Emir warns:

This operation is only a drop in the bucket, and what will come is more wicked and bitter, with the permission of Allah the Almighty.

We have noted that al Qaeda in Iraq and their allies had, for a time, stopped procucing these snuff videos of hostages being murdered. However, since mid-February there has been an upsurge of claims that hostages have been murdered--many of them beheaded.

SITE notes that the Islamic State in Iraq claimed the kidnapping and subsequent murders of the hostages:

to be primarily in response to the rape accusations of a Sunni woman, Sabrin al-Janabi, towards Shi’ite security forces....

The video opens with footage of the men blindfolded and sitting in rows, and a message is shown on-screen that is also dictated. Its words are similar to those of the two prior statements, but add that the Mujahideen rose to action after the appeal of the Emir of al-Qaeda in Iraq, Abu Hamza al-Muhajir, which he presented in an audio message addressing Sabrin.

Following the message, a number of the captured men, blindfolded and bound, are shown shot repeatedly with pistols by the masked Mujahideen.

Also, the Islamic State of Iraq issued a statement today indicating that fourteen other employees of the Ministry of Interior were captured on Thursday, March 1, and “Allah’s Orders” were also executed upon them.

Vicki, who sent the video, says she was ambivalent about posting videos like this, posts on why it is important for more Americans to view them. We agree wholeheartedly:

These murderers are not freedom fighters or Minutemen, as Michael Moore so famously declared. This is what they do to fellow Muslims they consider traitors, and we know what they do to infidels. I guess we're too civilized for the old heads-on-pikes treatment, so I imagine we'll be seeing more of these videos before we finally wipe out this den of vipers.
