The Dixie Snits Dominate at '07 Grammys
In 1999, the Dixie Chicks received a Grammy Award for "Best Country Album" for their album "Wide Open Spaces."
In 2000, the Dixie Chicks received a Grammy Award for "Best Country Album" for their album "Fly."
In 2003, the Dixie Chicks received a Grammy Award for "Best Country Album" for their album "Home."
In 2007, the Dixie Chicks received:
a Grammy for "Best Country Album" for their album "Taking the Long Way,"Am I the only one who suspects their much better showing in 2007 may have more to do with finding the right (or rather, left) friends than with finding some previously-hidden talent?a Grammy for "Song of the Year" for "Not Ready to Make Nice,"
a Grammy for "Record of the Year" for "Not Ready to Make Nice" and
a Grammy for "Album of the Year" for "Taking the Long Way."
UPDATE : One of our beloved readers has accused me of "ignoring readily verrifiable [sic] facts" in order to shade the truth. In particular, Mr. Ryan wished to point out that "In 2003 The Dixie Chicks DOMINATED the Grammy Awards winning EXACTLY the same number of Awards as they did this year."
This is true, but almost completely irrelevant. Winning "Best Recording Package" just ain't the same as winning "Album of the Year." The list of Grammy Awards of 2003 is here. I'll let y'all judge for yourself whether the Dixie Chicks "dominated" anything but empty concert venues in 2003.
