Taliban Opening "Schools" in Afghanistan
I'm not sure how this is even possible but I have to admit if the Taliban are this ballsy then a troop build up in Afghanistan is definitely needed:
Taliban to Open Schools in Afghanistan (Fox News):
KANDAHAR, Afghanistan - The Taliban's governing body decided to open schools in the areas controlled by the militants in Afghanistan, the purported chief spokesman for the hardline militia told The Associated Press.Abdul Hai Muthmahien said that Mullah Omar and other Taliban leaders decided that from March, Islamic education will be provided in at least six southern provinces — first for boys and later for girls.
"The U.S. and its allies are doing propaganda against the Taliban," Muthmahien said in a phone call to an AP reporter from an undisclosed location late Saturday. "Taliban are not against education. The Taliban want Shariah (Islamic) education."
Now wait a second, the Taliban are going to educate girls? Well, that is a step forward in a sense because prior to the US invasion of Afghanistan after 9/11, women were not allowed to go to school in Afghanistan. But, let's look at Shariah law for a second and see what they'll really be learning:
Servitude - "The woman cannot marry without the consent of her guardian. If she marries, her husband becomes her new guardian."
Reverence for Men - "A woman who wishes to be divorced needs the consent of her husband."
You're Not Worth Looking At - "And say to the believing women that they cast down their looks and guard their private parts and do not display their ornaments except what appears thereof, and let them wear their khumur over their bosoms, and not display their ornaments except to their husbands or their fathers, or their sons..."
The list goes on and on but those are just the highlights for women. If you're not a Muslim then you're truly screwed and have to live by those laws anyway in a Shariah system. But Islam is the religion of peace and tolerance, so long as you abide by their rules. Shariah law is the law of Islam; what it does to women is enough to make me not want to have it on this planet.
