Video: Bin Laden Meeting With 9/11 Hijackers (Updated

Al Jazeera has just run video showing Osama bin Laden meeting with some of the 9/11 hijackers. The video was produced by al Qaeda's media arm as Sahab. Earlier today as Sahab had announced on an Islamist message board that it would release a "September 11th" video on the internet soon.

The Jawa Report will have the unedited video soon and will post it at Hot Air. UPDATE: Go to Hot Air to see CNN edited video.

Update: The video shows some of the hijackers training with bin Laden prior to 9/11. It also features the "martyr" statements of Wail M. Alshehri (alt, al-Shehri). One of two brothers who helped hijack American Airlines flight 11 and crash it into the WTC. The other "martyrdom" video is of Ahmed Alghamdi (alt, al-Ghamdi).

UPDATE: Interesting. The entire thing has English subtitles.

CBS News reports:

The video showed bin Laden sitting with his former lieutenant Mohammed Atef and Ramzi Binalshibh, another suspected planner of the Sept. 11, 2001, suicide hijackings.

Atef, also known as Abu Hafs al-Masri, was killed by a U.S. airstrike in Afghanistan in 2001. Binalshibh was captured four years ago in Pakistan and is in U.S. custody, and this week President Bush announced plans to put him on military trial.

In the video, bin Laden was wearing a dark robe and white headgear walking in a mountainous area. He smiled as he greeted several men, which the tape said were Sept. 11 hijackers.

Dick Cheney does not appear on the video. No comment from Democratic nominee for Congress Bob Bowman.

UPDATE: Allah has the following screencaps and has vid from CNN up. We're working to get the unedited video right now. It is of Wail M. Alshehri.

The channel said it showed al-Qaeda leaders "preparing for the attacks and practising their execution".

UPDATE: Laura Mansfield:

The tape is over 5 years old but contains previously unseen footage. Khalid bin al Shibh is shown, as is Wael al Shehi, and Al Ghamdi.

It shows footage of Bin Laden and his associated reportedly planning for and training for the September 11 attacks.

Laura also has a translation of the Hamza al Muhajir (al Qaeda in Iraq's new leader) audio released yesterday.

Andy Cochran at the CT Blog has more.

Michelle reminds us (tongue in cheek) that if you convert, you have nothing to fear which is wonderful news to the thousands of Muslims murdered by the jihadis.

UPDATE: Amen to Blue Crab Boulevard: Yes, I know that won't make a bit of difference to some of the most deranged denialists, but it will at least help some people not to get sucked into that fever swamp.

Update: Stop theACLU: Im sure it is no coincidence in the timing of the release. Wizbang: Lots of al Qaeda video and audio just days before 9/11.

When will the "Truthers" begin to question the timing? I mean, an election is just around the corner.

And some Muslims fasting to celebrate 9/11. Yes, I said celebrate.

UPDATE: Misha: The people in the video are all CIA and Mossad operatives cleverly disguised as terrorists and, if you look very closely, you can briefly see the shadow of Karl Rove high-fiving Dick Cheney.

Sister Toldjah: Its not a question of IF theyll be reacting that way, [conspiracies, questioning the timing] but when.

Ankle Biting Pundits has a great essay about why the video would not be admissible in a criminal court. Why does that matter? Because here is video proof that bin Laden was behind 9/11, yet if the Democrats have their way the war on terror would be fought in the courtroom and not on the battlefield.

AJ Strata:

It is one of the random ironies of 9-11: it happened two months before the time of our national elections.

UPDATE: Llarwyn e-mails and wonders why the news agencies are so insistent about the video being "at least 5 years old" which would date it in the Bush administration. Could there be political reasons for this? I don't think so. Seems to me the reason for the 5 year date is just to help put at rest the Truthers claim that bin Laden was a scapegoat.
