Deeyah Spotted With Dangerous Characters

Dr. Rusty previously posted a profile of the talented and very hot Deeyah, an outspoken young Muslim woman who's endured death threats for her controversial lyrics:

Apparently not one to shrink in the face of adversity, it turns out that Deeyah has only been racheting up the controversy, recently being spotted with Ayaan Hirsi Ali and with Salman Rushdie.

Wow. Say what ya like, but the girl has some cojones.

Up to now, I haven't seen much of Deeyah on the pop culture radar screen. I'm not sure why that is. Maybe the music execs just don't want to upset the Muslims. Maybe they don't see a market for the music. Whatever the reason, I think we could all stand to see (and hear) a lot more of Deeyah and other young women with the same message.

Especially if they're hot.
