American Hostage Roy Hallums' Family Asks For Your Prayers

Roy Hallums, a civilian contractor working in Iraq, was taken hostage on Nov. 1st. Several of Roy's friends and family members have dropped me a line with kind words about Roy. No stories have appeared in the MSM about Mr. Hallums and the policy of the US government is to not make statements about civilians held hostage in Iraq. We at the Jawa Report will not forget Roy Hallums and neither should you.

Here are some of the comments left about Roy.

Roy Hallums' wife Susan writes:

Please remember to pray for the safe return of the only American hostage being held in Iraq, Roy Hallums. Our government needs to take more effort in returning him safely from harms way. We are devastated by his disappearance and hope and pray he will be released immediately. God Bless you Roy, Love, your Family
And:
Pls say prayers for him and most of all he will always remember him and his heroic efforts in Iraq.
Roy's daughter Carrie writes:
Please pray for my father's safe release and return. He is a wonderful person and does not deserve what is happening to him.
And a former colleague and friend of Roy writes:
Please know that all his friends, American, British, Filipino, Pakistani, and Saudi are all ready to do anything we can to help him and his family in any way possible....God bless Roy and his family during this terrible ordeal and may he bring him home soon, safe and sound!

While Roy Hallums' family appreciates the concerns and prayers of his friends and co-workers
I have concerns that discussions about him may jeopardize the negotiations that are proceeding.
Please do not post any information that may influence the process. I am certain his daughter and ex-wife are concerned, as are we all, but these things are best left in the hands of the professionals.

She's got a point, Rusty. Let's honor their wishes and take the topic off the blog.

I recently find myself wondering why more people going over there don't get those little chips implanted under their skin so they can be found by satellite tracing.

I really feel for this guy and his family.

Rusty I think it would be best to not to touch this issue. These guys are looking for notoriety and recognition. For a person being held hostage with possible negotiations going on you dont want to be background noise filtering into the conversation.

You can track under skin chips, they are only FOB's used for short distance ID'ing (0 - 15 inches). Most items that are hidden on high profile businessmen, diplomats, etc, are placed in articles of clothing. Since those are the first things kidnappers take away, those items only are effective in the first hours and can only be tracked if the transmission isnt inturrupted by buildings or terrain.

I was wondering, are foreign civilian's over in Iraq working with the Allied Forces not allowed to carry weapons in order to protect themselves and if so, why not? Why are they not allowed to protect themselves and their co-workers?

I know if I were over there I'd request a weapon.

John, I was thinking along the same lines. Apparently, Bigley and Hensley and Armstrong lived together in the same house and had guards. A lot of good that did.
